Your Guide to Quarantine

Hello! I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy! I know the world feels so crazy and unreal right now. At least for me I have been having a hard time grasping reality and feeling like I’m just existing and not truly living because it’s hard to understand everything that is happening right now. With that, I have been trying to fill my days with fun things to look forward to and accomplish so that I don’t feel like I’m throwing days away or just simply existing. I wanted to share 10 of the things I have been doing the most during these last couple weeks and I hope it inspires you to try something new or rediscover old hobbies:) As stated in the incredible 2006 film, High School Musical ” We’re All in This Together”.

  1. Make Dalgona Coffee (aka TikTok Whipped Coffee)IMG_7132

Yes I am not going to lie, I saw this on TikTok and decided I HAD to try it and it was just as amazing as it looks. The recipe I followed the first time was a little too much caffeine for me so everyday since then I have cut the recipe in half. Here is the recipe I use now.

1TBSP of Instant Coffee (has to be instant coffee, can’t be grounds)

1 TBSP of Granulated Sugar

1 TBSP of Hot Water

Mix with a whisk, hand mixer or milk frother (that’s what we use)

Mix until it is the consistency of slightly melted peanut butter. It takes awhile but it is SO worth it.

Then pour over ice and milk of your choice! We use Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk!

    2. At Home Photoshoots 

My sister and I did one of these the other day with a stool, a mirror and a little lamp for Processed with VSCO with e3 presetextra lighting and ended up getting some really cool shots. You can also look on Pinterest for indoor photoshoot ideas and edit the pictures for free in VSCO or even just in photos, there are a ton of free editors you can use! Here’s one of my favorite pics we got, this was taken in my sisters bedroom.

 

 

     3. Try Dirty Pour Painting

This is something I had seen videos on and always wanted to do but I wasn’t really sure how to do it. After watching more and more videos I learned that sometimes it works to use dish soap so I thought I’d give it a shot with some left over paint I had from a project. What I did was fill a cup with a little bit of Dawn Dish Soap andIMG_7485 I then put in my first bit of acrylic paint and I mixed the soap and paint. After that I altered colors and continued layering the paint into the cup WITHOUT mixing. Once I felt I had enough and I actually ended up using too much but it’s all kind of experimental, I tipped the cup onto the canvas upside down. Then lifted the cup and tipped the canvas to spread the paint. The way the soap reacts with the acrylic paint made the coolest thing I’ve ever seen and it took little to no effort.

 

   

 4. Start and Finish a Coloring Book

The other day I ordered a Spiroglyphic Coloring Book you can get them on  Amazon and probably other places but right now you might have to order it online since you might not be able to go out and buy it. IMG_7488This coloring book is super unique though, I don’t even know if I would consider it a coloring book since you typically only use one color per picture but it is a great way to practice patience and keep yourself occupied. The day I got it I spent 6 hours doing 3 pictures but it was so worth it. I encourage you to find a coloring book you have or get a new one and try to color as many pages as possible during this quarantine.

 

 

     5. Bake Something (literally anything)

This feels like kind of a given but it really is a great way to pass some time! It also is a great time to experiment with recipes you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t had time to. I highly recommend going on Pinterest and looking up fun recipes or even just buying  a box mix of some sort the next time you are at the grocery store picking up essentials. It also is so satisfying to eat something you baked or cooked yourself so I highly recommend doing this!

     6. Repurpose Old Clothes 

My new obsession is tie dye bleaching shirts and sweatshirts. This can be done with clothes you already have or you can order a sweatshirt on amazon for under $10 and bleach that! Darker colors work best for bleach tie dying but I tried a light green the other day and it still turned out well. PLEASE be careful if you are using bleach, use gloves and dilute the bleach with 1 part water to every 1 part bleach. You can spiral your shirt or tie it how ever you want (this is exactly like wrapping a shirt to tie dye). My recommendations are to use less bleach than you think and put it into a squirt or spray bottle of some sort so you have more control over where the bleach is going. Let it soak up the bleach for 8-10 minutes and then rinse with cold water. Immediately put it in the wash ALONE and wash it and dry it as usual! Again be super careful with bleach, don’t wear anything you don’t want to get bleach on because it works super quickly!

 

     7. Bike Ride/Walks

If you have family or roommates around invite them along on a walk or bike ride. It is so important to still be getting fresh air during this time. I know you can’t do all the things you used to be able to do but if it’s safe for you to step outside your house, take a walk around the neighborhood or bike to a mural or something in your town so you have a destination, it makes it more exciting. I try to go for a walk everyday and if I don’t I at least sit outside for a little bit if it’s nice enough out! Step outside, take a deep breath, I promise, it’ll feel so good!

     8. Movie Night 

Another one that can be even more enjoyable if you have family members you are living with or roommates but also fun alone! Plan a movie night. I have been trying not to watch too much during the day but I do save my nights to binge shows or watch a new movie. My watchlist so far includes Frozen 2, The Society (show but HIGHLY recommend), Moulin Rouge, Tiger King (also a show, I’m sure you’ve heard of it), What Happened to Monday?, Knives Out, The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. These are new movies and old movies to me but I have enjoyed everything I have watched so far. It’s fun to go back and watch movies you used to love and to look up new ones that interest you!

      9. Redo Your Playlists

I did this the other day and WOW it took me a while to do it but it was so worth it. I use Apple Music (controversial I know) but I put new images as the covers of each playlist, added music to playlists, changed the titles of some of them etc. It was so fun and now it is super refreshing to look at. Just an idea of something to pass the time and switch things up a bit!

 

     10. Make TikToks 

Not even embarrassed by this. It’s an incredible way to pass time, REALLY time flies when you’re watching them or making them and the possibilities are endless. You can learn the dances, make sketches, jump on a trend, make your own trend, there are so many things you can do and you never even have to make it public. Although you can keep them private, making them public can be fun because everyone has a chance to be on the “For You Page” so anyone can see your video not just your followers which is super fun because then people you don’t even know hype you up in the comments and it overall is a really fun time.

 

 

 

 

 

Tips On Managing Anxiety

Hello! It has definitely been a while since I’ve posted on here but I am glad to be back and hoping to post as often as I can or really as often as I have an idea. This specific topic idea came to me as I sat in the nap room at work earlier this week. As I watched 9 one year olds sleep for an hour and a half I had a lot of time to think in that rocking chair. My main point of thought was surrounding anxiety. Anxiety is something I personally have struggled with I think honestly since I was born. I was always worried about everything, constantly nervous about being late to things though my family was always on time if not early, suffering panic attacks before school as early as 1st grade, it has something that has always affected me. I wasn’t officially diagnosed and treated for anxiety until I was in middle school but even with that I still have days where I feel like I might not get through something because I am so anxious. With that though, specifically in the last year I have come a very long way and today I want to share 5 of my tips for managing my anxiety.

*If you are experiencing severe anxiety please seek professional help. These are just tricks I use for managing my anxiety but I am obviously not a professional and can’t guarantee improvement! Please talk to a trusted adult or professional if you need help*

Okay so let’s get into it!!

  1. Remove Yourself

My “remove yourself” I mean take yourself away from whatever you’re doing in that moment if it’s possible. This can be going for a quick walk just to get some fresh air and get out of the house or going over to a friends house. I find that sometimes sitting just in my apartment while I’m feeling anxious often just allows it to sit and brew, getting out of the house really helps me. If you’re in class and you start feeling super anxious, ask to go to the bathroom or get a drink of water. Removing yourself even for a second from class can give you a minute or two to take a deep breath once you are removed from the stimulation of the classroom. Obviously you should then return to whatever you are supposed to be doing but taking these little breaks and extracting yourself can be very beneficial.

     2. Essential Oil Roll On

Okay so this one is my new obsession. I got this roll on in a little relaxation kit from Target for Christmas this year. If you know me, you know that I can’t smell and I’ve always wondered if essential oils have the same benefits for me since the scent itself wouldn’t affect me. This might be a placebo at least for me since I can’t smell the roll on but I’ll put this on before I go to sleep and any time I feel anxious. I do my wrists and my temples and sometimes right under my nose and I INSTANTLY feel calm. Like I said this 100% could be a placebo but I’ve had my friends try it too and I really think it works. If you’re looking to try something new and you’re interested in getting into essential oils, this is a great start especially because it doesn’t require a diffuser or any other devices! Give this a try and let me know if it works for you!

3. Meditate

This one is more obvious but I use this all the time when I can’t seem to get myself to calm down. This can range from just breathing exercises like square breathing which is inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, exhale for 4 seconds, relax for 4 seconds. Or my personal favorite. Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, exhale for 8 seconds. You can do this by yourself or with an app. My personal favorite is Oak which I use before bed if I’m feeling anxious or sometimes on the bus on my way to work or class. It might take some practice and I know I’m not always successful at clearing my head enough to completely relax but overall there are a ton of benefits to meditation and just taking time to focus on breathing is something I always find to be very beneficial.

4. Find a Distraction

Now this is similar to removing yourself but doesn’t have to require that. Finding something that can temporarily take your mind off of what is making you anxious can be super helpful in managing your anxiety. Examples of this for me include, watching a show that makes me feel calm and happy like Friends or Wizards of Waverly Place (kinda stupid, I know), watching a movie, taking a shower and listening to a podcast, going on a run, talking with my friends, journaling, FaceTiming my parents, etc. These are all things that I do in moderation honestly, whether or not I’m feeling anxious but I do notice that I try and distract myself more often when my anxiety is really bad but it does help to take my mind off of what’s causing me to be anxious and sometimes completely eliminates the stress I’m feeling especially when I am feeling super anxious but I can’t seem to figure out why. Find what takes your mind away for a little bit and implement little moments into your day where you can escape whatever anxious feelings you may have.

5. Change Your Mindset

This last tip is 100% the most important, the hardest to implement and the one that took me the longest to figure out so I am sharing it with you in hopes of helping even one person grab ahold of their anxiety. That’s what this is, change your mindset surrounding you anxiety. Don’t let it be something that controls you, take control of it. The best way I know how to do this is with a little trick that took me 20 whole years to learn. This trick is not allowing myself to feel anxious about something until 5 minutes before it happens. This only works obviously with the anxiety I have surrounding new places and experiences and more controlled events that I am nervous for. For example, if I have an interview coming up that causes me to have a panic attack every time I think about it, I tell myself and remind myself that there is nothing I can do to prepare past this point and the worst part is going to be walking into that interview. I can’t walk into the interview obviously until the day of the interview so there is no point in stressing out about it until right before. Making this realization and implementing this has changed my life and really impacted the hold that my anxiety used to have over me. I’ve explained this trick to friends and now they hold me accountable and I hold them accountable. The other day I was starting to stress and get very anxious about an event I was putting on. Everything for the event was set up and ready, I was just anxious about the event itself. My friend said “Hey, 5 minutes, just like you tell me” and I was immediately brought back into that mindset and felt calm. This mindset about controlling what you can at the time you can is something I still don’t have perfected and clearly still need reminders about but if you can achieve that control over your anxiety, I promise, you will not only feel so powerful but you will also experience less anxiety and be able to live a more peaceful life.

Traveling To Michigan!

I had this post in my drafts for quite some time and considering it’s been almost a year since this trip I figured it was TIME to post it!! This traveling post is a little different than my other posts because it was a work trip but we did vlog and it was quite the experience so I wanted to share! I work for a company called Just For Kix that does a ton of different things in the dance world but for this trip, my friend Kallie and I were teaching a weekend intensive in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I won’t give too much away, you should watch the vlog because it’s a hoot and a half but a little preview is that, due to weather we were stuck there for 2 extra days and our transportation was going to be Ubers but the town was so small that Uber didn’t exist there…hopefully that intrigues you to watch the video:)

HUGE shoutout to Just For Kix for making sure we had places to stay and were taken care of when Mother Nature was having a meltdown! If you know me, you know my heart belongs at JFK so look forward to more JFK vlogs on my Youtube channel this summer!

Garbanzo Bean Salad Recipe

I just finished my first year of college without a meal plan and I’m not gonna lie, I relied on 90 second rice and Steamfresh veggies more times than I can count. Up until a couple weeks ago I wouldn’t dare challenge myself to make something I’d never made before, purely out of fear that it wouldn’t be edible BUT that has changed. Recently I was craving something fresh and decided that I would try my hand at making up a fresh veggie salad recipe 09773C30-CDDD-46AE-981B-AA39FCC62EA3and it turned out better than I could have ever imagined. I love it, my friends love it, it’s an all around fan favorite so if you want to give it a try, here is the recipe!!

Ingredients

3 Cans of Garbanzo Beans

1/2 of a Red Onion

1 Green pepper

3 Roma tomatoes

Italian Vinaigrette

 

Steps:

Drain the garbanzo beans and put them in a large mixing bowl, chop up the half of the onion, the green pepper and the tomatoes and add them to the bowl, mix well so it looks very colorful and blended, then add Italian vinaigrette to taste, you want every piece to have some on it but not me drenched. Then put it in the fridge for about 15 minutes so that it’s chilled and the vegetables can soak up the vinaigrette and serve!!

This recipe could not be more simple and delicious, I recommend it to everyone, especially if you like garbanzo beans like I do! Let me know if you give this recipe a try!

How to Feel More Put Together

We’ve all heard the phrase “fake it till you make it” but why fake it if you can quickly feel like your life is put together? I am a big fan of doing little things that make my day better,  make me feel accomplished, organized and just all around like I’m doing something right. Looking at my life, it probably doesn’t look put together but these are some things I do to personally just make myself feel better so I wanted to share!

  1. Wash your sheets

Hopefully you’re doing this already…BUT if you just need an easy way to feel clean and put together, clean your sheets or change them to something different! Nothing feels better than getting into a bed with clean and comfy sheets at night and you’ll feel so much better seeing a nice made bed, with clean sheets on it.

2. Vacuum

Another one that I’m hoping you do anyway but if you want a quick accomplishment, vacuum your room or living room. Even if the carpet doesn’t look too dirty, it always looks so good and fresh after being vacuumed and maybe it’s just me but vacuuming is oddly satisfying and you’re cleaning while you’re doing it!

3. Change something up

I’m not saying do something crazy like dyeing your hair or giving yourself bangs (trust me I’ve learned the hard way) but even something as simple as rearranging your room, buying a new scented candle, reorganizing your makeup, etc. I’m someone who doesn’t like change but LOVES redecorating and rearranging just to switch it up a little. I almost do it as a fresh start as if just putting my bed in a different spot in my room changes how I do everything. It sounds crazy but even changing the smallest thing can make you feel like a whole new person.

4. Have a pamper night

If you didn’t get a chance to read my post about your guide to self care, you should definitely check it out because it is perfect for this point. Taking a night a week or even just a couple a month to do a face mask or take a bath with a bath bomb allows you to relax and do something good for yourself. Even better, wash your sheets and then take a bath, getting into bed after that is sure to make you feel great.

5. Become a planner person

If you don’t already use google calendar or have a planner…this is your sign to start. I used to get cute planners for school and RARELY use them but this year I forced myself to become a planner person. I personally prefer a hard copy, paper planner and there are so many cute and cool ones literally everywhere, I got mine at target. I write EVERYTHING in there. Not only do I have everything written in the calendar part but in the individual day part I have constant checklists with everything from homework I need to do to showering. I don’t need to put that in to remind myself but I do it so that I can cross it off and feel accomplished. Again, I know that sounds crazy but I get so much more done when I write it in my planner and I feel so accomplished if I’ve done all of the things I wrote on my list.

6. Switch your phone background

I used to always have pictures as my phone background and that’s fun and cute but also can be a lot to look at when notifications show up on your lock screen and it can be overwhelming. I recently changed my lock screen and home screen to cool and simplistic backgrounds and I swear I felt like a new person. Click on the circles below to see some of my favorite backgrounds but even just going on Pinterest and finding something you like looking at but is simple, is so fun and makes you feel refreshed and ready to accomplish so much, simply because your phone background is enjoyable to see.

 

7. Make a simple but delicious recipe

I don’t care if you rely on toast and mac and cheese to survive because you don’t know how to cook, it doesn’t have to be hard! Look up easy recipes that create delicious meals and challenge yourself to do it! Like this post if you want to see a post on reviews of easy recipes for college students and I’d be happy to do it! Anyway, making something and then seeing the finished project and getting to enjoy it is such a great feeling and it definitely makes you feel like you have your life together and you feel like you might actually survive life as an adult:)

8. Set a morning routine

Starting every morning with 10 minutes of meditation, listening to a podcast or having a cup of tea or coffee gets your mind and body ready to conquer the day. Knowing when you’re going to sleep the night before, exactly what’s going to take place when you wake up helps you rest easier at night and gives you a reason to get up in the morning that might be more enjoyable than having to go to school or work. Even though you might have to get up a few minutes earlier, you will feel already accomplished right after getting up and you’ll be prepared for a successful day!

Your Guide To Self Care

As someone who thinks that taking a bath can solve all problems, I felt like it was my duty to share my hacks for taking care of yourself. Are some of them dumb and basic? Yes. Will all of your problems be solved? Probably not. But will you feel better about yourself and ready to conquer whatever is going on in your life? HELL YEAH! With that I present to you Your Guide To Self Care.

Here are things to do, how to do them and what to use:)

  1. Meditate

I made it one of my new years resolutions to meditate everyday and I have pretty much stayed true to that. I typically use apps to do guided meditation since its a practice I am not super familiar with but it definitely can be done without once you know how to do it. You can also look up videos on youtube! Below are the apps I use. My favorite is the guided breath sleep one on the app Oak.

-Headspace

-Oak

-Calm

-Waking up

There are different ones you can do and usually you can adjust the length so if you only have 5 minutes to do it, there are options for that! If you really can’t make time it’s important to take times throughout your day to practice breathing either doing square breathing (in for 4 sec, hold for 4 sec, out for 4 sec, relax for 4) or 4,7,8 breathing (in for 4, hold for 7, out for 8). These are both really good exercises if you’re anxious or stressed or even just to remind yourself to breathe:)

2. Drink Water

You hear it all the time i’m sure but drinking water constantly is SO important. Some hacks if you don’t like drinking water is to get fun reusable straws to make it more fun to drink and to add things to the water to give it a little bit of flavor. To see my favorite infused waters check out my post from this past summer. How ever you can get it down the hatch, do it!

3. Exercise

This is so basic and I’m sure you see it all the time but even just going for a walk or doing a couple squats can really improve your mood. The endorphins that are released when you increase you heartrate make you feel so good. Anytime I get stressed or sad I want to lay in my bed and do absolutely nothing but I have learned that getting up and going on a walk or on the elliptical makes me feel so much better MUCH quicker than sulking in my room expecting something to change without doing anything.

4. Take Care of Your Skin

No matter what your gender is or how old you are, taking care of your skin is so important. It can seem like a chore to do when you wake up or have to do it before you go to bed but it’s such a simple thing that will make you feel so good and your skin will thank you for it. Finding a good skin care routine takes time but is key to lock down. Doing research on your skin type and finding a good cleanser, moisturizer and toner are very important. It doesn’t have to break the bank either, Walgreens, Target and CVS all have incredible skin care products for affordable prices. 5. Make Special Playlists or Find a Podcast

We all have our phones on us all the time and although it’s good to take a break from scrolling through social media, there are things on our phones that can be used to benefit us! I find it really helpful to make playlists that fit different vibes so that if I’m feeling upset I can listen to my playlist of songs that always improve my mood. It’s amazing how much music can change the way you’re feeling so that’s definitely something to take advantage of. Another thing I have found to be helpful when needing to ease my mind, is podcasts. Finding podcasts that I enjoy listening to totally changed how I do a lot of things, now I’m listening to podcasts while walking to class, cleaning my room, coloring, etc. It’s a great way to relieve stress but also maybe benefit from learning something depending on the podcast you pick!

6. TREAT YOUR SELF

Although I sometimes use this excuse too often but even the smallest little treat for yourself can change your mood. If I have had a bad week I’ll treat myself to a coffee or a treat after making it through the week. It makes getting through things easier and gives me something to look forward to. Sometimes treating myself is spending the night pampering myself and using a face mask. It can even be free things, a movie night with your girlfriends, taking a bath, finding an easy recipe to bake with things you have at your house already! It can be as simple as that.

Remember that we’re all just trying to make it through life and it’s important to not be too hard on yourself because you deserve so much better. Make sure you’re taking time to care for yourself because at the end of the day, you’re all you’ve got:)

Holy Grail Curly Hair Products

Since I’ve had curly hair for almost 20 years and I’ve been in charge of managing it on my own for at least 11 years, I feel like I kind of know what I am talking about when it comes to managing curly hair. I don’t have the curliest hair ever but its most definietly not straight and using the right products really changed my hair game.

First thing to figure out about your hair is what kind of hair you have. You wouldn’t use crayons on a canvas, or oily skin care products on oily skin so don’t use products that target a different hair type. Now once you recognize your hair type there are hundreds of products for each type so do your research.

I straightened my hair every day in middle school and I still do too often so I use products that help any damage, prevent damage and make my curls prettier than ever. If you have curly hair I would recommend ANY of these products because I promise they will change your life.

  1. WHOLE BLENDS SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

I’ve used two different ones and I’ll link them both below. The blue one is my favorite and was the first one I ever tried. My curls after looked INCREDIBLE and so hydrated and bouncy. You should switch up shampoos and conditioners every once and awhile so I wanted to try the brown bottle that is said to help control frizz. This type also hydrated my hair and made my curls very precise and I would recommend it, but between the two I would recommend the blue!

2. PILLOW SOFT CURLS

screen shot 2019-01-13 at 6.39.33 pmIf I could only use one product ever again it would be this product. It has changed mylife, my hair and my confidence in my curls. I recommend it to as many people as possible and everyone I have told about it, loves it. It helps hold your curls without leaving them feel crunchy and stiff. My curls look the prettiest when I use it and I always get comments on the smell of my hair and my curls when I have it in. I HIGHLY recommend this product if you decide to get anything from this list. It is on the pricier side for a drugstore hair product but a little bit goes a long way and depending on how much hair you have, it can last several months!

 

 

Pillow Soft Curls

3. BUMBLE AND BUMBLE SURF SPRAY

I have been using this product forever and would even recommend it if your hair is wavy to really enhance and hold the waves throughout the day.

4. WET BRUSH

screen shot 2019-01-13 at 6.50.15 pmYou probably know about Wet Brushes but they are ESPECIALLY helpful if you have curly hair. If you’re like me, you can only brush your hair when its wet unless you wanna look like Hagrid. Brushing your hair when it’s wet isn’t the best for it but with a wet brush the bristles are so gentle, you won’t feel like you are damaging your hair at all when you are using it and the many bristles really help untagle all of those knots.

5. HEAT PROTECTANT

Screen Shot 2019-01-13 at 6.51.53 PM.pngLike I said earlier I used to straighten my hair everyday and I still do it at least once if not twice a month especially as it’s getting longer but I want to make sure I’m causing as little damage as possible. There are tons of heat protectants, I’ve linked my favorite below but honestly anytime you’re using heat you should use a protectant. I used to think I was above using a protectant and I fried the ends of my hair so find one you like and use it whenever you’re going to blow dry or straighten your hair. This helps it look better when straightened and keeps your ends from looking gross when it’s curly again:)

6. TINTED DRY SHAMPOO

Having dark hair, it is hard to use dry shampoo because you have to work it into your hair a ton and even then it still has a gray tint to it. Batiste has a brown tinted dry shampoo that changed my life. You can’t see it in my hair and it blends so nicely just with a little bit of working in. No more greasy OR gray looking hair for those dark haired beauties out there:)

7. BIOTIN

If you have curly hair you know it takes FOREVER to grow and no matter how long it is when its straightened or wet, once it curls you loose at least 3 inches. I have always wanted long, healthy, curly hair and I can now acheive that as my hair has gotten longer since taking biotin. For more info on it check out my fall favorites!

Easy DIY Acrylics

Don’t be intimidated by the “DIY” in the title because trust me, if I can do it, you can do it. I started doing this over the past couple months because I have a horrible habit of chipping off my nailpolish. I don’t think i’m the only one but if one nail starts to chip, check back 3 minutes later and I will have chipped all of the color off of every nail. I hate how having one chipped nail looks so I have to get it all off which gets annoying when I spend so much time painting them. I love the look of acrylics but was worried about the damage to my nails and of course, the cost. I have used imPRESS nails (pictured and linked below) and I love them. They are super easy to apply since they don’t require glue and the color selection and appearence is stunning. Since I fidget a lot and I’m constantly putting my hair up those nails would only last about a week and then one would fall off and similar to the nailpolish, I can’t have one acrylic missing so I had to take them all off. THEN I realized I could see if they sell acrylic glue anywhere and just attach those nails with the glue so they would last longer. Finding glue was easier than expected as it’s sold at Target and Walgreens and CVS. Now I buy whatever color nails I want from the imPRESS collection and put them on with the glue and I am ready to go for weeks! Another bonus of the glue is that you can reattach one if it is loose or falling off and there is little to no damage to your nails. Perfect for someone like me who would feel the need to take them all off if one was off. This hack saves so much time and money especially if you’re balling on a budget like me:)

 

Here is the glue I use, it is super heavy duty so avoid getting it on your skin but it won’t ruin your nails! The price is unbeatable compared to how much it costs to get acrylics dscreen shot 2019-01-13 at 5.10.12 pmone at a salon!

Nails range from $5.99 to $10 and come with at least 30 nails to ensure you will find 10 that fit every finger nail size. I am always able to find the perfect match for each nail. It also comes with a small nail file I like to use to shape them a little bit once I have put them on. Sometimes there are “accent nails” in the pack but there is always an equal size normal color if you don’t want to put the accent nails on (I usually don’t)!

Traveling to Seattle

This post is loongggg overdue but better late than never when it comes to getting to share one of my favorite trips I have ever taken. This past October I spur of the moment bought tickets to visit one of my favorite people EVER at her school in Seattle. I have always wanted to go to Seattle and I wanted to see Kate so it was a win win, not to mention, tickets were at an all time low so I had to go for it. I bought tickets for early November and started counting down the days immediately.

I arrived on a friday night and took the red eye home on Sunday night giving me two full days to see everything I could. My tour guide (Kate) made my trip SO incredible and made sure I got to see everything I wanted to while making sure I had the best food and best time. Below I’ll list my favorite places we went and include some picture:)

 

In the first picture you can see the BEAUTIFUL skyline at night that I got to see my first night there (major Grey’s Anatomy vibes) and then I also got to take a picture in front of Meredith/the intern’s house from Grey’s Anatomy which I was embarrassingly excited about. Still that same night that I got there we went on the ferris wheel which was so fun and also a breathtaking view. The guys working let us go around an extra time so that was exciting:)

The second day Kate took me to a cute little donut shop and we had breakfast and then got Starbucks (had to since it was Seattle)! After that we went to Pike’s Place and walked around the Farmers Market and saw the Gum Wall which I set my expectations WAY to high for but the wall was still cool haha. I also took a picture in front of a restaraunt called Etta’s! So nice of them to name a restaraunt after me:)

The last day we went to the space needle which I thought was so cool to see:) We didn’t wanna pay a ton of money to go up in it but even getting to see it up close was so cool. We still had some free time before I had to go to the airport so we went to an ADORABLE farmers market where we had the most amazing vegetable quesadillas and listened to some acapella. We took a walk down a beach and then ended the day with a day time STUNNING view of the skyline which was so pretty. After that, I went back and finished packing and then Kate and her roommate Audrey (who I bonded with SO fast) took me to church which was so enjoyable and informative. Then we went to the airport and I flew home on the red eye which was…nice haha but it was affordable so I did it:)

Overall I could not have asked for a better trip and visit and I can’t thank Kate enough for hosting me and being the amazing woman she is:) I’ll leave her instagram below, check her out because she’s the best!!

What I’ve Learned in 20 Years

My birthday is coming up in February and I have been really struggling with the idea of being 20. I know that technically is still very young but time really seems to be flying and sometimes I forget that I am actually an adult. As I am nearing exiting my teenage years I have been feeling super reflective so I compiled a list of 20 things I’ve learned in 20 years:)

  1. NOTHING is as big of a deal as it seems
  2. At the end of the day you only have yourself
  3. Taking care of yourself should be top priority
  4. Grades do not matter in the grand scheme of things
  5. Where you are and the pace you’re moving is okay
  6. The best way to make someones day is remind them that you love them:)
  7. A good cry is always nice. Eventually the tears will stop and you’ll feel better
  8. It’s okay not to like what other people love
  9. Sisters are a built in best friend
  10. Believing in a higher power will change your life
  11. People that want to be in your life will make an effort
  12. Singing and dancing relieves so much stress (even if you aren’t talented)
  13. Appreciate what others can offer that you can’t but don’t let that effect you
  14. Allow yourself to get mad and upset with the knowledge that you won’t feel that way forever
  15. If you think you should cut your own bangs…you shouldn’t
  16. EVERY person in your life has been and is there for a reason
  17. Surround yourself with people that bring out the best version of yourself
  18. Walking around Target pretty much solves everything
  19. Forgiveness is key
  20. TIME HEALS ALL WOUNDS

I know that last one is especially cheesy but it is so, so true. Some of these lessons were learned over time and hard times and others were just things I didn’t realize I had learned until I looked back on the last 20 years.
